St. Rose of Lima Altar Society Mission Statement
As stewards of the church, the Altar Society’s purpose is to prepare and enhance the worship environment of St. Rose of Lima. To honor and glorify God we serve by maintaining and beautifying the altar and sanctuary of the main church and the daily chapel. The altar and surrounding sanctuary are where we celebrate Holy Sacraments, an essential part of the Roman Catholic Faith Formation. Paramount, the Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The Altar society contributes to the Mass by assisting the parish priests in maintaining and cleaning the altar linens, vestments and some Sacred Vessels. Also, the ministry cares for the flowers and plants within the church, ensures the church decorations and linens are appropriate for the importance and solemnity of the liturgical seasons and occasions. The ministry is united to promote service, uplift one another in friendship and fellowship. The Altar Society welcomes all men and women of St. Rose of Lima to participate and contribute their talents to serve the community. Members charitably give their time and skills; decorating, crafting, organizing, cleaning, ironing, fundraising and more. We invite anyone willing to learn and anyone willing to share their knowledge of the liturgical environment. The Altar Society follows the guidance of the parish priests, has the assistance of the religious sisters, church staff and cooperates with other ministries of St. Rose of Lima. As we follow our faith, we grow this ministry; we also grow in our love and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The main purpose of the St. Rose of Lima Altar Society is to maintain and beautify the Altar. We welcome all parishioners 18 years of age and above to join us.
With reverence we change and clean all linen and vestments used during mass, some daily. We have members that dedicate their time to washing and ironing the corporals and purificators in their home with reverence and loving care. We are always looking for individuals that want to contribute to this part of our ministry.
We decorate the Altar and Sanctuary. We are blessed that we have Sister Abby and Sister Letty that we work with to decorate for all liturgical seasons.
We also participate in several church activities such as Rosefest, Living Rosary, Feast of Corpus Christi procession and several fundraisers throughout the year.
Please join us to share your time, talent and treasure. We meet on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the hall. During renovation our meetings are held in the RE building library on the third Friday at 6:30p.m.
