Mission Statement:
Exercise the consciences of our Parishioners to be caring neighbors, living and pursuing the virtue of justice and the common good in our church and community.
Through the Outreach Ministry we bring parishioners and community into conversations to know each other first, then develop trust among us and then organize us to act together to address the issues that affect our families and organize us to find sustainable solutions and create equality and sense of community specially for the most vulnerable: the poor, children, elderly and the lowly.
Our mission is founded in the Greatest Commandment of our Faith: “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” LUKE 10-27.
Our core value is the Virtue of Justice which is the moral virtue that consists in the constant and firm will to give their due to God and neighbor.
Justice toward God is called “the virtue of religion”. Justice towards men disposes one to respect the rights of each and to establish in human relationships the harmony that promotes equity regarding persons and to the common good. The just man is distinguished by habitual right thinking of his conduct toward his neighbor. CCC 1807
Our ministry reaches out to the community and parishioners to find out what are the issues that affect the families in the community and then create awareness of such issues in the leadership of Saint Rose of Lima to understand what our community struggles with.
We meet once a month to general conversations with the community of Saint Rose of Lima, and several other small group conversations as needed to organize action to the most demanding issue in the general conversation.
In the small group conversations, we train people to listen to each other to relate to every person’s issues without judgment but compassionately, then they realized that they are not alone that many may have the same issue, even people that may not have the issue want to help and assist by standing as caring neighbors with our brothers and sisters that struggle.
As the conversations develop and we learn from each other’s reasons, trust among people starts growing so now my neighbors’ issues are personal to others and vice versa.
This is the time when we are ready to act together as a strong community so we can address one or several issues affecting us by calling a meeting with the officials and elected officials that should work on the issues. With our institution Saint Rose of Lima Church and a strong community around officials would be persuaded to act in our community’s interest.
Also, we actively participate in the liturgical life of our church Saint Rose of Lima by interacting and assisting other ministries and festivities.
Our membership requirements are as follows:
a. Everyone is welcome to participate in the public conversations, actions and training but also required to attend as many as possible since participation is essential to our mission.
b. When participation requires interaction with vulnerable populations as elderly and children, we require those willing to assist to take the Virtus training and background check.
